Ingredients
- 1 cup raw or soaked almonds
- ¼ tsp sea salt
- 1 quart water
- *optional 1 tbsp raw clover honey
Instructions
- Put all ingredients in blender
- Start blending on low speed and then move to high speed
- Blend for about 30 seconds
- Pour milk through a nut milk bag or cheese cloth to remove pulp. Sorry but a regular strainer just won’t cut it here you really need something that will remove the fine particles
- *if not using a Vitamix or other high powered type blender you may consider grinding nuts first before adding water
Notes
Questions:
Do I need to soak the almonds first?
It is not necessary to soak the almonds first in order to make almond milk. You may want to however, because soaking the nuts overnight deactivates the enzyme inhibitors present in the skin of the almonds, thus activating the enzymes in the almond making them available to us.
How long will the milk keep for?
If the nuts are sprouted it will keep for 3-4 days in refrigerator. If nuts are not sprouted it will keep for a bit longer about 5-7 days.
